Your nickname and real name (optional): General Zhaoyun (Jow Yu hsing)
Where you're from: Originate from Taiwan, but now living in Singapore (still hold ROC nationality)
Age: 29
Interests: Chinese history, Buddhism, philosophy, golf, swimming
Other forums you visit: SMQ, E-sangha, SoSZ, AE, HG
Background info:
I was born in Taiwan, but family migrated to Singapore when I was 6. I was grown up and educated in Singapore. At the age of 19, I went to Germany for 6 months for a language study. After that I spent 4 years doing a direct master degree in mechanical engineering at Imperial College London. After graduation, I came back to Singapore and work for my family business, as a research engineer. Just last november, I was involved in sales and marketing and my title was changed to "account manager", in which I handle sales account.
My interests in chinese history dated back to my university period, when I started reading chinese history books, thereafter I've developed a strong interest in chinese history and culture. I'm a chinese history amateur basically.
I began to be involved in internet communities when I went to Heavengames history forum in 2000. After some fun over there, I founded Simaqian Studio in Jan 2001, which is an online community for world history discussion.
In June 2004, after realising that there is a need for a specialised forum for chinese history discussion, I founded this new community called "China History Forum".

Where you're from: Singapore
Age: 24
Interests: History, Religion, Music
Other forums you visit: AE
Background info: I was born in Singapore to an English-educated father and a Chinese-educated mother, and have been effectively billingual since my childhood (although I can't speak any Chinese dialects other than the northern one). Interested in history from the age of 13, I was introduced to Chinese history through the Romance of the Three Kingdoms when I was 15. Three years later, I moved on to the history of the Age of Fragmentation (after Three Kingdoms and until Sui), and kept reading into it while I was in the army for two-and-a-half years of compulsory military service. I soon decided to make it the focus of my future career as a historian.
At present, I'm in my last year at the National University of Singapore, majoring in History. I intend to pursue a PhD in the US, and then seek a position in the History department of a university (not necessarily in Singapore).
I'm also a committed Christian, and have been attending a Chinese-language church called the Evangelise China Fellowship since I was a child.

Po-Lung Chia (Jia Bo Long, Jia as in Jia Bao Yu, Bo as in Bo Shi or professor, Long as in the serpent)
Age
19 (birthdate on June 16, 1984..coming soon...and I'll be 20!)
Where I'm from
Taiwan, Taipei. To be more precise, I have lived in Zhang Hua and Ban Qiao, though my favorite place is Da Xi where my maternal granny lives. Da Xi is full of carpentry workshops making ancestral shrines for praying (Bai Bai) and has all these Huang Ri Xiang dried tofu (Dou Gan) at very low prices. I also like the fermented tofu (Do Fu Ru) there. Every morning there's this old lady who peddles rice dumplings (Rou Zong) and there's lots of breakfast stores around. Taiwanese breakfast is excellente...best, actually.
Where I'm now
California, Berkeley, attending college. I am doing plant genetics and biology and would probably not study anything related to history for my major. But its always been my interest to know more.
Interest
I really like to talk. I like to talk about experiences, life, computer gaming and especially girls. I love talking about girls I loved, or rather, have been infatuated with (there's 5 of them so far). They're all lovely ladies, but the last 4 has broken my heart...but they're still lovely. Yeah, I don't have to talk about my job here as a mod...that's an interest too.
Background info
Right, born in Taiwan, ROC, and underwent the basics kindergarten and grade 1 before moving to Indonesia at the age of 7. Lived at Bandung where the place is cool with an semi-active volcano (Tunkungan Perahu...I forgot the exact spelling). I attended Bandung International School there and learnt my English there. Yeah, had my first crush at grade 5 but left Indonesia to Singapore where I was thrusted back into the traditional East Asian education style in Christian schools where they force you to listen to sermons every week.
Anyway, I stayed in Singapore for 8 years. Went to AHS for secondary school where I had my second crush, and went to HCJC 2001-2002 where I had my 3rd crush. And then I'm here at Berkeley, and the first semester I had my 4th crush that nearly killed me, and a 5th crush that lasted for 3 months and now I'm onto my 6th...its improvement alright. In secondary school it was 1 crush for 4 years, JC was 1 for 2 years, and now in Berkeley it was 3 for 1 year. :D
If you need help in screwing up your relationship, I'm the one you would be looking for.
