"夫君子之行:靜以修身,儉以養德;非淡泊無以明志,非寧靜無以致遠。" - 諸葛亮
One should seek serenity to cultivate the body, thriftiness to cultivate the morals. If you are not simple and frugal, your ambition will not sparkle. If you are not calm and cool, you will not reach far. - Zhugeliang

Is this based on people who post on the jokes thread or overall humor?
It's based on "overall humor". I've received the above nominees from some members.

first, my reputation for sterness is in tatters 'cos some joker nominated me but voted someone else ...
now my name is up there without a single vote, not only did I lose my fearsome aura, I also look ridiculous.
GZ, maybe it should be restricted to you have to vote for whoever you nominate.

Now now now...if you had come up with this post earlier, I would have voted for you...
Wait a minute...I'm not the one who nominated you...

As I am writing, it seems that all nominees except one (btw GZ, there is a problem with the poll, LJM voted twice...) are in the same situation. Are you calling us ridiculous? Hear, hear, Wujiang, Caocao74, Urofpersia, Centaur, WangEnlai...
Be careful next time you come into the bar in Wujiang's office... SB!
François, perhaps ridiculous, but certainly angry!

The problem lies here. People are allowed to nominate up to 3 persons but are restricted in voting only once.If you wish to nominate, please pm me with your nomination list (of up to 3 person). The voting will last till end of August.
BTW, I've yet to cast my vote on anyone. I'm waiting for more jokers to join the list.

But I don't understand, why is Ur nominated? I didnt take part in taking apart pink bunnies in some joker's office. As I am sure all present will agree I am among the more serious ones on this forum (if not the most serious). My concern is history, scholarly works, not lame jokes or cavorting around with pink bunnies (Not that I have anything against pink bunnies [Ur looks apologetically at fcharton]) In fact I sometimes wonder at my profound lack of humour, and worry if forummers will think me too stuffy, but alas such is the utterly un-joker like character of Ur.
I feel confident more level-headed forummers will see the truth of the matter and will pointedly ignore my utterly undeserved nomination. Fortunately as well, the true jokers on this forum have been nominated thus I am indeed quite safe from winning this... illustrious award.
(Ur, looking for a serious-looking emoticon but fail)

I'm wondering how I should go about judging this...
Copy & pasting my favorite quotes:
"Are we funny? Hmmmm Presume we are." - Cardinal009 has excellent comedic style & he has always been remembered not only for his academic words but for his third-person talk, Ex. This Cardinal does not take political sides.
"you're never too old to be a pedo!" in response to CaoCao74's post. - TMPikachu is known as an artist, joker as well a Grand historian; a renaissance man. He speaks out without fear of backlash.
"Yeah, down with the white man. lol.
"The man who says his wife can't take a joke, forgets that she took him." -Oscar Wilde

Snowybeagle is so serious that any hint of him being a joker is sacriligeous!
