I know this thread is not new, but I will add my 2 cents.
Knowing the complex history as well as location of Viet Nam being the cross roads of Asia, I believe it can be difficult to define a general "look."
As far as I know, I am 100% Viet (living in the U.S.) which can be a little misleading. I understand that the Viet population in the States, does not represent the entire population of Viet Nam, but I believe from what I see within my own family, that it can be quiet common among most all Viets.
My fathers side is pure Viet and has a look that has been described as someone who is mixed with Asian and African. Big eyes without the Epicanthic folds, flat nose bridge, wide nostrils and very thick lips. Straight jet black hair.
My mothers side looks very different. Big eyes without the Epicanthic folds but they are deep set. Very high nose bridge without the wide nostrils, but with thick lips. Hair is brownish/dark red and very course and not so straight, very similar hair textures to that of South Pacific islanders. Here in the U.S. her side of the family is often mistaken for hispanic by other hispanics. Also on her side, I have a few relatives that can pass for South Asian Indian.
I have a few relatives that look Han Chinese too. Most of my relatives look neither Chinese, nor South Asian Indian, but more like what the indigenous people were. Like a mix between Southern Chinese and Australian Aborigine.
Most Asians here can't tell my ethnicity and think i'm Filipino.
Most white and black Americans think I'm some type of Asian/black mix, since I have often been told I look like Tiger Woods.
Most hispanics think i'm Mexican.
I am always spoken to in Spanish whenever I meet Hispanics, but I have never been spoken to in any East Asian language. Once I was spoken to in Hindi by a South Indian.
Most often I will be mistaken for Mexican or Asian/black mix...but i'm pure Viet.
So you see, my point is that Viet Nam is quiet diverse and there can be many different "looks."
I know ur pain. I visited Vietnam and honestly some looked Filipino, some looked Chinese, some looked Thai, some looked Malay and some looked Indian.
Anyway, how can a South Indian speak to you in Hindi? Hindi is generally spoken by North Indians. South Indians speak Punjabi or Tamil or something.
BTW Can someone tell me which race do I look like (a mix is feasible too)? I'm Chinese, but then... Of course there's no such thing as PURE HAN
Ok so here's a rough description.
Dark brown hair (turns light brown when hits the sun), dark brown eye pupils (again, turns light brown when hit by sun).
My original skin color (before tanning) is white (close to Caucasians?) and when I get tanned it looks brownish-red (kind of like those Japanese or Mongols in harsh weather)
My nose is short and flat with wide nostrils (I think this is quite common in Vietnamese), my overall face shape is slightly longer than round and I have high and wide cheekbones.
My eyes, it's a very hard thing to describe. My eyes were slightly larger than slitty (ok u can laugh) when I was little and then I started to try n pry my eyes open so now they look normal and I'm used to it
But when I open them now my forehead gets a lot of creases (meaning I'm stressing too hard and this is not my original eye shape).
Then I have obvious epicanthal folds. I'm 5 ft 11, 13 yrs old

Long limbs, thin n small lips.
I'm a guy btw
I have double eyelids.
Grandparents from Southern China so possible Viet-blood mix.
Thanks in advance

pls help.
