my family members say wau lan/wah lau is a crude word. they dun like me to say this one
Another friend has an explanation of "Wah Lau"
It is used for wives to call their husbands, "wah lau" = my hubby , wah=my, lau=husband. He always made fun if people say "wah lau" whose your hubby he would say.
It is crude, in a way, coz imagine naggy wives calling their husband. But not as crude as "sipeh" which of course means die father, literally.

The origin of si pay is 'dead father' or an analogy for 'extreme' because what could be worse than 'father died'.
'Si pay jia lat' would mean 'extremely xxx'
Hokkien words are very vulgar.
It is usually used by crude hokkien men in the past. Except that the modern people don't realise the meaning anymore.

"夫君子之行:靜以修身,儉以養德;非淡泊無以明志,非寧靜無以致遠。" - 諸葛亮
One should seek serenity to cultivate the body, thriftiness to cultivate the morals. If you are not simple and frugal, your ambition will not sparkle. If you are not calm and cool, you will not reach far. - Zhugeliang
