"夫君子之行:靜以修身,儉以養德;非淡泊無以明志,非寧靜無以致遠。" - 諸葛亮
One should seek serenity to cultivate the body, thriftiness to cultivate the morals. If you are not simple and frugal, your ambition will not sparkle. If you are not calm and cool, you will not reach far. - Zhugeliang

These posts are fantastic.
I "see" everything in isomorphism.
You show the charts and patterns and I see the infinite connections and possibilities.
Show me a schematic drawing or a blueprint and I can see it all in 3D,(and sometimes beyond) yet I have worked with people who can not comprehend even a drawing of a cube.
(unfortunately for me, the algebraic formula is totally lost on me, and yet I pass the time by calculating fractions.)
I have no doubt that for those gifted in mathematical abilities, it expresses exactly what I "see" and can not explain.
The Binary TREE ...is excellent. It is a pattern that you see everywhere in nature, the pattern of the "myriad of things"
The patterns you posted are so basic to just doodling that even without great mathematical knowledge you can come up with deep understanding and insight.
They are also a "schematic key" to pass on knowledge without writing just like the yin yang or the bagua you showed. Chinese characters are very similar, expressing a complex idea with a simplified picture.
(I was watching a show on the dimensions beyond 3D and found the new theory of the M Dimension very intriguing.
I hope that this might be the "scientific "way to explain paranormal and metaphysical experiences. )
You can only go halfway into the darkest forest; then you are coming out the other side.

Can you please explain why you believe this underlines the development of mathematics in china? Mathematics is not something i am well read in so could you explain the significane of the number pyramid. Have you ever read joseph needham's work on the development of science and maths in china? Athough it was written a while back it is still regarded as one of the seminal works in the field.
Can you tell me the source for this diagram please? is it ching era?
