I'd like to introduce a game where we can have a bit of fun and at the same time learn more during a certain time frame in a very complex Chinese history.
I would like to suggest to strat off with Peasant rebellions during the Han Dynasty.
The game goes like this:
We start off with one word or short sentence and the next person can give a short description on the subject, the person that answers will give another clue and so on.
When we are at a loss of research we can then restart the game with another subject.
I would like to start off with this word: NONG
The time frame is 206BCE-CE220)
Hope to see a posting very soon.

So I am gona go with
Liu Bang of Han Dynasty, 206 B.C - 220 A.D, who follow massive peasants rebellions throughout China at the end of Qin Dynasty and call himself King of Han at 202B.C. Eventually, defeated the most powerful rival Xiang Yu at HaiXia, after which he declare himself the Emperor of Han at 202 B.C, the combination time frame of Western and Eastern Han lasted from 206 B.C to 220 A.D, after which Wei replaced Han.
A Gentleman?
Guess a person:
Clue:
1) Zhou was destroyed for a reason.
2) Idealistic notion itself will not save you.
3) If I were you, I won't like Green or Red.
Still in Han.

Hi hi...
Am I close when I say Wang Mang, an official that upsurped the Han Dyansty Royals to established his own Xin Dynasty but died off at the end?
I'm guessing Zhou was for his emulation for the past and trying to re-named Zhou practices but it didn't work out well. The Idealistic notion was for his religious obsession with prophecy and witchcraft and his personality cult (or so it has been said) and the Red and Green part was for the Green Forest Army and Red Eyebrows Army, two major agarian rebellion fractions that oppose him.
Am I getting warmer or still too cold?

Well I guess that you got that one right, I must admit I was nowhere close to that one. Now it's your turn to give us a clue for the next one. By the way that was a very good one that you gave us to search for.
Hope to hear from you very soon

Word: Shi (guess the Chinese character)
Clues;
I would have been admitted to Rehab for Alcoholism.

The color(s) of my eyes stand out from many people.
I lived during the Golden Age (one of them).

I'm still not quite sure how the game goes but here's an easy one.
Word: Shi (guess the Chinese character)
Clues;
I would have been admitted to Rehab for Alcoholism.
Totally obsessed with a natural satellite.
The color(s) of my eyes stand out from many people.
I lived during the Golden Age (one of them).
sigh....

You all got right on everything. Shi for poetry.
The eyes part was for his multi-ethnic background (or so I've read) where he would or might have been considered a
Se Mu Ren (Colored Eye people). Although I don't know the full extent of this term.
The Golden Age is what most people would associate or assume to be Tang. However, I did read somewhere in several places where the Han and in some cases the Song could be considered as a Golden period as well.

The word is Zhong.
Guess;
Clues:
I made a great stash of tools to use for my job.
I have the best wife in the whole world.
Everything I did became meaningless when my Xiong di (or Hing dai in Cantonese) died in vain.
Time period: The Imperial surname was Zhao.

Before I raise both hand and a white flag, I will take a shot with my eyes closed.I think it is you all's turn to make one but just in case I have another easy part.
The word is Zhong.
Guess;
Clues:
I made a great stash of tools to use for my job.
I have the best wife in the whole world.
Everything I did became meaningless when my Xiong di (or Hing dai in Cantonese) died in vain.
Time period: The Imperial surname was Zhao.
I will go with Emperor Zhao Xu of Song, called Ze Zong. He inherited the most variety thinkers of that age compare to any other ruler of that time period, from the far left to far right of spectrum, and he continued the reform of his father. His wife, Empress Yuan You, or Zhao Ci Shen Xian Empress, was commonly praised by most people. His brother, Emperor Hui Zong, lost everything to Jin and died a miserable death.
I was going to say the Zhao King called Wu Ling, who use many different generals and dreamed about the girl who became his wife but then... his sons have trouble but not his brothers.
So, I am out of ideas. More hints? Or better guesses?

Zhong as in Loyalty. 忠
More clues might give it more away to make it more easy but here goes:
A great military leader.
Had adversaries on the battlefields and in the Imperial Courts. (although his Xiong di appear to have more trouble).
In fact, he threw his helmut and sword down in disgust at an illogical imperial order.
His wife had an interesting background that would make people shake their heads but he did not mind.
P.S.
I'm sort of surprised not many people are playing this game.

韩世忠hmm... I"m sorry to say that you are still cold. However it was getting just a tad bit warmer with your first guess.

Han, Shi Zhong, called Liang Cheng, (1089 - 1151), born in YanAn, ShanXi, joined the military in 1105 and fought against the Xia campaign, and in 1120 served under Tong Guan in the Fang La Rebellion, and he captured Fang La in the end.
In 1126, after Jin's invasion, Emperor Qin inherited the throne, and he was promoted to commander. In 1127, when Emperor Zhao Go, called Gao Zong, established Southern Song, he was given title JiDuShi, commanding officer of a military province in Tang, though in Song it was more of an honorary title.
When Yue Fei was cast in iron, Han found out and went to Minister Qin's home, and demanded an reply to which Qin said, Doesn't need one, to which Han retored, Doesn't need one is only 3 words, how do you expect all that is beneath the heaven to buy that? Yue Fei was allowed suicide under house arrest.
After Yue Fei's death, he resign from all military posts.
He died in 1151. Emperor Xiao Zong promote him to the title of King of Qi.
On the other hand, Han, Shi Zhong is some what a perverted man. . . with interesting taste in woman.
One of his wife was named Liang, HongYv, born in 1102, in 1120, her father and her brother was executed for failure in Fang La's rebellion, and she receive the punishment of becoming a military prostitute. [How very civilized.] In 1130, in the Battle of Huang Tian Dang, she beat the drums and raise Song's morale, which ended in one of the first decisive victory for Song. She died in 1135. [I wonder why, and I am very tempted to point finger.]
