We all know who would win between han vs rome but what about Qin army vs Rome army,i think it would be an easy victory for Qin for same reasons as Han vs Rome..

why start the whole farce again without a specific incident or date or ruler or general to tie comparisons to.
There really is a flawed sort of psychology with the East vs. West nonsense.
I don;t see why the whole tired affair needs dragging out of the abortion bucket when truly EVERYTHING that could have been said has been said.

Despite the hardly infrequent comments by a number of members on how Westerners percieve China, or the East, I think you only have a dim idea of how Westerners might view the East.
There is great variation in this. Most wouldn't even be aware of foot binding, or the what the Opium war was (or when). Nor would they have a great idea of their own history. Or a great interest.
The average person thinking of China, I can assure you would first think of cuisine or Kung Fu. If you think they should know more about glory days of yore then give up. A lot of people just don;t care about history, including their own.
They like sport and music and clothes and money.
Commenting on Rome as a slave society making it backward....who cares. I don;t think the forced conscription of Qin was notably better. Human sacrifice continued into Han despite Qin ban of the practice.
I really don't know why some people here feel that the West has a negative view of China. I really don't. Even an average person will know China is ancient & colourful, even if having little in specifics. It's nothing personal, they could hardly recite a list of Roman emperors or Medieval Kings either.

When scoffing about AMerican propoganda you might be correct but they focus a lot on their own history right or wrong, and may think New Zealand is a flavour of ice cream. (sorry, I get a but flippant too). Before criticising the Western education on China you perhaps should qualify what nation?
I have seen some very good documentaries on discovery channel on Yuan, Qin, Han, Warring States and such on the channels you refer to and they will list any monomental acheivements frankly. Marco Polos assertion China was still well ahead of Europe is often mentioned if people read Western hisories of China.
The thing is they have to pick up the book first, and that's the only problem.
You should have tried teaching me anything when I was at school!
In somebody actually gives a d**** enough to watch it/read it is over to them. Don't blame Westerners. SOme people prefer to watch 'Friends' or the 'Osbournes'.

Oh, and purely on a balance sheet of acheivement at these times (QIn to Han) I would have to give the prize on total technical performance to China. That being said some people just don't care no matter how great your own passion for ANY topic might be.
Thats humanity for you. So on the Chinese history forum the 'acheivements of China thing' is all preaching to the converted. How about just leaving 'what Westerners think' (or what YOU think they think) out of it.

IF you really want to discuss this topic, when the Qin united China Rome was still far from it's height, so in most realistic sense during this time Qin>>> Rome, it's not a very logical comparason really, during this time comparing with Alexander would probably been more logical.
