there is this Chinese instrument that looks like a four stringed lute I saw in Beijing. I think the girl Sparrow (BTW why does she talk in the third person?) in the Forbidden Kingdom plays it. What is it called, how is it tuned, how do you play it, and does anyone know who sells one online? I never had time in Beijing in June to get back to the shop and ask.

It's called a pipa: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pipa

Thanks. :notworthy: Any idea how they are tuned? I think I saw some in Beijing near the street market?

I used to have a pipa, it's my favorite musical instrument - I think it sounds beautiful and looks so elegant ^-^ I believe the tuning is AEDA... The one I had didn't like to stay in tune though (it was cheap) :-S I miss my pipa, I want to get another one...
