Lu Su people a person who I would say should be admired he accoplished alot reguardless of the fact there is alot not noted as a feat. He was skilled as a politition, stratagist, he was a great envoy for Shu and without him, the events at Red Cliffs against Cao Cao may not have taken place.

Check out his biography on Historians of Heaven's Mandate

An interesting fact about him is he was quite a big strong man who was skilled at swordmanship.

Thanks, Guan Yan!! I agree that he is an underappreciated individual of his time. Hes was directly centered around and observed the events that shaped an unforgettable era. =)

When you read each bio of the ppl involved, it attributes credit to event such as Red Cliffs to that person eg in Zhou Yu's bio it attributes credit to him for Wu resisting Wei at Red Cliffs.

The alliance at Red Cliffs was a necessity for both sides, even if Lu Su did not visit Liu Bei, I am sure Liu Bei would have sent an envoy to Wu.

I respect Lu Su alot but if he lived longer as Commander in Chief, i feel Wu would have not gained anything in Jing. He was far too conservative to take on Guan Yu, as Sun Quan notes. It took Lu Xun & Lu Meng to alter the borders of Wu. I feel Lu Su could have maintained but not expand Wu significantly.
