I am writing my thesis about the history of renewable energy in China, and I was wondering if anyone had any information on where to find good resources. I am focusing on the 1950s onward, and specifically looking for history regarding the use of hydro, solar, wind, methane and other kinds of renewable energy during the 1950s, 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s in China. Any type of resource would be wonderful. Thanks in advance.

If I'm not wrong, the development of renewable energy in China only began after 1980s (in particular, Hydro, Solar, wind etc.)

Not sure if you can read chinese, b'cos I can't seem to find any English source for your research.

This is a subject that I am quite interested in, and not just of importance to one country, but all of the world.

A big deal is always being made about China's use of coal as a main energy source, but lets not have the pot calling the kettle black..
The USA uses a great deal of coal too. I was disheartened the other day while taking a walk. A train track goes along one edge of my town and I watched a long train go by all loaded with nothing but open coal cars. the amount of coal it was carrying was staggering and I began to think of that multiplied by thousands of trains every day...
It is time new energy sources are developed.

I am particularly interested in wind and solar power.

A few months ago I saw a short blurb on TV about a young entrepreneur in China who had developed a series of many small turbines that you could install along the ridge of your roof. I was really intrigued by that invention and wonder if anyone has seen it on a home or building or if it was just a prototype experimental idea.

this is all excellent stuff and has helped me imensely. I can read Chinese, so if you have any other resources it would be great.

I am wondering if anyone has any information about renewable energy, like hydro power, methane, wind power, solar power, used in China during the Great Leap Forward and Cultural Revolution. I know it is a subject that does not ahve a lot on it, but maybe if you have seen any pictures, read something in a book about these times, have a memior, anything really. Thanks for the help.
