Cave Mural concept of the Archangel Gabriel. I took a picture of the drawing, and the I hastily splashed some colors on photoshop.

Haha, I only have one because most of the drawings are of my friends.

That's very good! But could you explain the picture? It looks like a Buddhist image, but the name is Archangel Gabriel. Is this a Buddhist imitation of the Christian or Muslim Gabriel? Or something else?

Yes, it's a Buddhist rendition of the angel. Notice the trumpet and the lilies he is holding. The angel is often depicted in in paintings holding these objects. In revelations, he is believed to be the last angel to sound the trumpet before judgement day.

That is a very interesting concept indeed. Mixing the art of two cultures reminds me of Greco-Buddhist art. Images of the Greek hero Hercules supposedly influenced those of the Hindu-Buddhist guardian deity Vajrapani, patron saint of the Shaolin monastery. See the thread I created on the subject.

A lot of people don't realize that the Halo in Christian images was copied from Persian art. This made its way into India and influenced Buddhist art.
