Umm, I can feel you on that, I don't really like the movie in particular, and it's not anything good.
But, I can counter your argument by bring up 300, aka dynasty warrior itself?

actually, i dont like dynasty warriors at all i find ROTK to be much better. Dynasty warriors is straight hack and slash.

Hey everybody.

Anyone watched red cliff yet? Just want to know how many of you have fainted in the process of watching in the cinema.

You know, dynasty warriors moments, exploding fish oil and egg shells, Normady landing, forest gum moments(or was it Tropical Thunder), immune to fire testudo formations and using catapult at short range, Kamikaze japanese actor etc...

So anyone?

I for one can't wait for Chinese cinema to go to rehab over CGI binge drinking.

Thats why they have the spartan, its better than 300.

Rest assured it won't. This is, after all, John Woo. He is never overtly political even when the subject matter might lend itself to that.

The action and battle scenes drive this movie, not the allegory; when the more loaded political statements do appear, they feel so out of place that you can't wait for the talking to end and the fighting to start.

My very short review: It is better than part 1.

Slightly longer thoughts on it: I enjoyed part 2 more so than part 1. I thought the first three-quarters of the film was relatively good and enjoyable. The famous plot lines were also handled admirably. This is something that is not always easy because everyone knows them and what will happen, so often the element of surprise or novelty is gone and thus the focus is on the execution.

Cao Cao was well played and the script for the character this time is better (except for the ending). i especially liked the scene where Cao Cao's soldiers were humanised. Something they didn't manage to do in part 1.

The ending was a letdown. There were some scenes that was quite unncessary and Xiao Qiao... I guess the producers/director felt they needed the romance angle. I would also single out the actor playing Sun Quan for bad acting. he has what, just two expressions? One of which he looks constipated.

I won't talk about the accuracies/inaccuracies because after watching part 1 I went in with no more expectations here. Overall i applaud them for moving in the right direction but there is still a lot of room for improvement.

Saw the show, both Part 1 and 2. I do appreciate the fact Part 1 was for the introduction of the characters, and Part 2 was the meat of the show. So perhaps, Part 2 seem better.

I personally liked the 'borrowing of arrows' segment. The segment was done rather well... as for Xiao Qiao's 'additional roles' - umm, guess the producers had to inject some romance into the show... seriously, it became rather comical instead.
