There are two recommended places in Singapore to buy Taiwan-published books:

1. Kinokuniya Bookstore at Great Wall City (Orchard - Takashimaya)

2. PageOne Bookstore at Vivocity

Kinokuniya has a large section of Taiwan-published books, not to mention magazines. In fact, most of its Chinese books are from Taiwan, in all subjects ranging from literature, medicine, history, philosophy, science, arts, politics, military to religion etc. They also have all types of Taiwan magazines from business to fashion.

I've not been to PageOne before, but my friend Thomas Chen has told me that they have many books from Taiwan in a number of areas including architecture, lifestyle, design, arts etc.

For online website to buy Taiwan-published books, I recommend Bokelai 博客来 at http://www.books.com.tw . This is the website that I use to buy some specialized books from Taiwan. But the freight charges from Taiwan to Singapore can be quite expensive. In any case, their service is pretty good and fast.

The book 鍍金中国 is published by a Hongkong publisher 天窗出版社. ISBN: 9789881836342 (see http://www.douban.com/subject/3802974/ ) . The author is from China. You can check it up at Kinokuniya, OR you can try popular bookstore.

I found Richard at http://booksfromtaiwan.com/ very helpful. History is not their specialty (focus on natural history - nature) but he was able to find, and send to me a couple texts important to my research into Japanese conscription policies. Good English spoken.
