Can anyone recommend a source that would list all the reign names (or at least Song Dynasty) with english translations including a bit of explanation of the name and reasons for it's choice?
Thanks,
Eric

There is always a Google search you can do and Wikipedia articles (see below). but it would be wise to check as Wiki articles often have errors.

Thank you,
These searches will give me the era names, which is what I want, but i already have them all. I would like to be able to see an English translation as well as a transliteration and really want to see a bit of an explanation for the reasoning behind the era name, and justification for change, many Emperors used more than one era name and I want to know what precipitated the change. I think it makes for a good story.

There is currently no English translation (or transliteration) available for era name (reign name) of Song dynasty (or even some other dynasties). Translation requires some research into the literary meaning (Classical Chinese) and historical or social-political background for each Emperor as to why the era name was used.

I can research for you when I'm free..

Thank you,
I guess that explains why I am having so much trouble finding it.
It seems amazing that something so basic (in my opinion) to the history of a time period would not have been done. Any help or pointers would be appreciated. I find just learning the names creates more questions, especially for emperors who changed their era name multiple times.
Thanks again,
Eric
