Some classical works would be Charle Patrick Fitzgerald 's The Empress Wu (1968) and Foo Check Teck 's The Imperial Mind (2002),

Many books about the Chinese empress were published in the last few years, such as Nigel Cawthorne 's Daughter of heaven (2007), Jonathan Clements 's Wu (2007) X. L. Woo 's Empress Wu the Great (2008), T. H. Barrett 's The Woman Who Discovered Printing (2008) and N. Harry Rothschild 's Wu Zhao (2008).

Dennis Twitchett has written an article entitled 'Chen Gui and Other Works Attributed to Empress Wu Zetian' which can be found here. It sounds like a good jumping off point for primary sources written by or about her.
