Can anyone help to translate my baby boy chinese name : 星懿 to english hokkien? thanks you
星懿 should be "sing i" in Hokkien. If you're using Singaporean Hokkien romanization, it should be "seng ee"
星 can also be pronounced as "san", "tshenn", "tschinn" in Hokkien.

Actually, the best romanization for 懿 in Hokkien is "i", since that's how it's pronounced. This is used in POJ (Peh Oe Ji) or Tai-lo Hokkien romanization used in Taiwan.
In Hokkien language, there is no intial "y". So, you cannot romanize it as "yi".
However, in typical Singaporean Hokkien romanization, 懿 is often romanized as "ee".

Though people often use "y" to represent things like "iong" (becoming "Yong").In Hokkien language, there is no intial "y". So, you cannot romanize it as "yi".
And this "yi" appear to match "Southeast Asian Mandarin" pronunciations.

You have to be careful when using that, as the Romanization systems are not compatible with the ones actually in use in Singapore. The following Hokkien dictionary would be of help to those who wants to translate Chinese to Romanized Hokkien.
