Wang Han 王翰 's style name was known as "Zi Yu 子羽" . He was born in Jinyang 晉陽 (today's Taiyuan in Shanxi province). He was a Tang poet.

According to Chinese scholar Wen Yiduo 闻一多, he was born between 686-726AD, but this was without much verification and evidence. At the moment, his birth date was still a mystery according to historian. He was born into a rich family. He had a liberal character and loved to drink wine. He took the Imperial exam and became a Jinshi scholar during the reign of Renzong of Tang and later was recommended by commander in chief Zhang Huizhen 張惠貞 to be an official. In 721, he was invited by Premier Zhangshuo to become the secretary-in-state 秘書正字. Because he was very direct in his speech and liken himself as dukes and king, it aroused the jealousy of many. Later on, he was demoted to become a Daozhou Sima 道州司馬.

His literary work include the Lyrics of Liangzhou (Liangzhou Ci 涼州詞)

One should seek serenity to cultivate the body, thriftiness to cultivate the morals. If you are not simple and frugal, your ambition will not sparkle. If you are not calm and cool, you will not reach far. - Zhugeliang
