At the end of the nineteenth-start of the twentieth century, Russian scholar...(whatever his name is ...ov) advanced the argument of central Asian 'turkicisation', the original hypothesis being that of turkicisation of the languages of the non-turkic-speaking peoples, but later extending to the idea that the non-turkic peoples underwent cultural turkicisation as well. There are even some scholars who advance the hypothesis of turkicisation on the racial level.
