Hello all. I've made a few posts already, but I thought I'd just say a quick hello and explain a little about myself. I've been interested in Chinese history for the better part of a decade now, but in particular the Three Kingdoms and the Jin Dynasty. For the most part, I've been studying it casually in my spare time, but since the beginning of this year I've taken a much greater interest in it. I've always been fascinated by it, but it's only recently that I've developed enough maturely to begin taking it seriously, instead of just as a hobby. I'm currently studying at college in England and I'm beginning a course in basic Mandarin in September (HSK 1). After that, I'm hopefully going to study Chinese at university, with an eye towards becoming a professional historian afterwards with any luck! I'm currently writing a short monograph about the Jin Dynasty, purely just to expand my own knowledge on the subject to better prepare myself for university, and whenever I'm not writing that I always have my head down in one book or another (I'm currently reading John Keay on China, which is really fascinating). Apart from the Jin Dynasty, I have a keen interest in Chinese poetry, in particular the work of Cao Zhi, but I'm also partial to Du Fu and Tao Yuanming amongst others. I'd love to expand my knowledge and learn more about the other dynasties of China, since I'm not too hot on those - in particular Tang and late Qing, which look really interesting. Until I learn a little more about these (which is of course a major reason I've signed up) you'll probably find me hanging around the AoF forum Thank you for reading, I look forward to interacting with you all soon
