I was wondering if anyone could tell me how the Chinese were involved in the second phase of the Great Game, c. 1918 to c. 1926. I know that some warlords were involved in Central Asia, but I don't know, who, why or to what extent. Reading Hopkirk on the subject is high on my list of priorities, but I'm already juggling quite a few books at the moment, so if some one could give me a brief run down, it would be greatly appreciated :)

If my grand grandpa was still alive, he could've told it in details. He spend his youth in village called Lakan, which is now abandoned.

There were lots of refugees fleeing revolution at that time from central-south China. Plus native Hui population, which migrated to Central Asia centuries before.

Central Eurasia (unknown to many people) have actually been the core of human civilization for a very long time....history may repeat it self again.
