Well, I've been reading this forum for about a year now, registered a few days ago and have been agonizing on what to write for an introduction since then. I figure I should just post it now, not being very good at these things anyway. They make me nervous. Hello! I am something of a sinophile, living in Vancouver I've had plenty of opportunity from a young age to familiarize myself with the Chinese culture. Last year I actually went to China for a month - I have a cousin who teaches English there, and I stayed in the Chengyang district of suburban Qingdao. Started studying Mandarin and written Chinese a few months before I went, I know enough to understand basic ideas, I want to learn a lot more. I hope I can learn something on this site. Fascinated by Chinese history, also Chinese literature, as I am a writing I get drawn to that immediately. I am sort of rambling, so I will just say pleased to meet you all, I hope I am welcome here.

Create a topic or two and ask some questions
You like Chinese literature for example, why not create a topic about your favorite author/book and get a discussion going? Or something you don't understand/want to learn something more about?
