Does anyone have any information about this? A number of scrolls, big ones, about thirty feet long, from around the sixteenth century, depict the same event. It looks like some women were having a picnic with animal-men, when demons attacked. Along the scrolls, there's battle everywhere; there's a section where demons take down a dragon or serpent; there's a tiger protected by women; there's an odd area of calm around a human man who may be a religious, political, or military leader.

Does anyone know anothing about this genre? What is this battle supposed to depict? Who are the animals, and who are the demons, and why are they fighting?

A modern imitation of one section makes some details easier to see:

The scrolls make more sense if you start at the right and scroll to the left:

Woot keep'em coming ;)

I too have a facination with the occult and demons, much to the charging of my family lol. You know the old traditional attitube towards the supernatural, the more you take an interest in them, the more they take an interest in you.

Some of the pictures you posted aren't being displayed. I guess theyre prevent offsite linking.

Are the painting modern works or ancient?

This one is one of my favorites with Zhong Kui:
