Last week I was back in Manhattan for my brothers wedding and I found out that my birth mother was Hakka (she died when I was young). When I asked my dad if this was true, he didn't deny this, but at the same time he downplayed that Hakka is moreau label than anying else due to complete assimilation with other Hans.
Regardless, I instantly identified myself as Hakka, and have not stopped celebrating that fact since. Anyway, this is just a friendly introduction and I'm excited to to learn more about the Chinese and it's great history.
Hakka is beautiful, and so are all the other groups!
