Hello. The sword guard is for protecting the hand from your opponent's blade right? But the guards on Han dynasty swords seems are usually really small and seems incapaple of protecting the weilder's hand. Anyone now why they were designed that way? Are hand guards on Han swords for decorative purposes only and they just never thought of protecting the hand?
