Unite into one country or central government? I don't think that would ever happen. Way too many competing interests and political ideologies.

Well Europe is falling to pieces with just a currency union, so I'd be critical of an even stronger unity scheme in East Asia, though I confess my knowledge of contemporary affairs that side of the globe is incredibly limited. From what I've heard though (it might not be true), China's economy has already peaked and its markets are saturated, so if it were to collapse it would drag the other countries down with it, should such a unity occur. Doesn't sound like a wise move in my book, though I'm no economist.

No not like that. I mean't re-unite as in Asian brotherhood...no more hating or whatever. Each keep their own countries and prestige.

Too unrealistic, no doubt some nationalists on either side would get agitated by this.

Like Koreans and Japanese saying that the Tang dynasty is a foreign dynasty with no proof other than geneology and certain traits.

Official language: Middle chinese (where is xianbei language)

Religion: Chinese religions (where is xianbei tengrilism)

Chinese holidays became universal

sui and Tang opted for confucianism, not northern dynasty feudalism

After the tang fell, did the xianbei actually leave china....wait, where were they...flash forward to the song dynasty...where are the xianbei, lol

I mean if the key leaders of the CCP were from minority groups, koreans will claim that china is being occupied by foreigners.

Japan already tried to create a Pan-Asian alliance around WW2. But their atrocities during the war, puppet regimes, and other factors led to discontent throughout the other Asian nations.

As it is now, I can't imagine any sort of compromises for reasons that the above posters have stated. One of the reasons why Europe is united is because of the Soviet threat, they did not have the time to fight about past differences in the face of invasion. Contrarily China, N. Korea, and Vietnam were part of the communist powers which effectively split East Asia in half. S. Korea, Taiwan, and Japan were all backed by the United States which put further distance between both sides.

Times are getting interesting...

recently I saw a video about Anti-Japanese protests in China....in which hundreds of Chinese people boycotted and flipped over Japanese cars....this is because of the current Island disputes.

Japan has a similar issue with South Korea.

There is still current tensions between neighboring East Asian entities that have escalated throughout the months (i.e. Island disputes). So it's still going to be a long way off.
