Was wondering if there were any recorded incidesnts of ghost, demons, monsters and general paranormal activities during the Three Kingdoms period.

Guan Yu is often portrayed as coming back as a ghost after his death, though there's no historical basis for this. I'm sure there are other ghostly/paranormal references in the RotK too. As far as 'official' sightings are concerned, I'm not sure.

The 《搜神记》 (Records of Searching for Spirits, 4th cent. CE) sounds like something that might interest you. It is a collection of old stories about ghosts, monsters, and immortals prior to the 3rd century. A bilingual edition is available under the name "Anecdotes About Spirits and Immortals" (2 vol.).

Usually things like omens, some of which are mentioned in the first chapter of the novel, or mystic related. There was one mystic that claimed to have entered a world inside a gourd and ended up with a dragon staff that turned into a dragon, can't remember the name unfortunately. As close as I can think of.

Hmmm, I was looking for this book on Amazon but could only find vol 1. Has volumn 2 been published? Also do you know if there are any shops that sell the Electronic copy of the book?

I think that was the story of Fei Changfang Fei Changfang and an immortal. I have more details about it in my notes somewhere. I'll post it up when I find it.

The one being sold on Amazon has two volumes. The product picture only shows volume 1. You can find an ebook of it here. It is expensive.

There seems to be complaints about the translation for the eBook version. Have you read the 2vol version? How would rate the quality of the translation and stuff?

I have the 2 volume bilingual version. It reads pretty smoothly. It was translated by Ding Wangdao a professor of the Beijing Foreign Language Institute.
