I am investigating the character you as it appears in the Yijing, and although I have posted some first insights and speculations on my website (click here) my quest for more information continues. In this article I write

The character you already appears on the oracle bones from the Shang-dynasty (ca. 1750 - 1122 v. Chr.). As we see it know it referred to a specific place, city or area (Jiaguwen Zidian 甲骨文字典, p. 336). According to my historical atlas ((中国历史地图集, vol. 1) it was an area in the current region of the Fei Huang river, in the North of the province Jiangsu.

I would like to find more information about this place, but I don't know where to look. Who can help me with this? I would like to know if there are (old) books which mention this place, or tips for other reference works which can help me.

Thank you all!

Best wishes,

Harmen.
