Hi,

Mine is Jin as in Gold in mandarin, but my grand ancestors pass down message word by word to my father and to me that we are actually surname 'Liu' as is known to be descendant of Liu Bo Wen another strategist from early Ming Dynasty.

about Liu Ji: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liu_Ji_(14th_century)
in death section, mention Emperor was envious about him and ordered a killing to the Liu Family, don't think it was successful cos that's why we change the surname to Jin
in the traditional writing of chinese character there's a Jin in the Liu. that's why we kept it as part of our surname but after many years we get use to the surname and never thought of changing it back.

in San Guo, probably Liu Bei could be my Ancestors too.....

but if you ppl know that surname Liu is not prosperous, they are usually being harm most of the time and have no direct succession as being the top. my friend's uncle whom a Fengshui Master told me that

my surname is zhang which probably means I'm related to Zhang Fei. Also, according to my Dad, there was a statue/temple of ZhangFei in his home village so I really starting to think i'm descended from Zhang Fei. =)
