Yan Liang as in, one of Yuan Shao's top officers? I don't remember but I think I heard somewhere that he wasn't actually a real general during the 3 Kingdoms...

Hm, maybe Yun will come to clear this up (as I only have the sometimes semi-accurate Kongming.net bios to look at.) and help me out. Maybe I'm mistaken and it's just that Yan Liang wasn't as "fierce" as the novel made him out to be. However I'm not certain...
Mark ye the steed swift and tireless, see the dust, spurned by his hoofs, rising in clouds,
Now it swims the river, anon climbs the hill, rending the purple mist asunder,
Scornful it breaks the rein, shakes from its head the jeweled bridle,
It is as a fiery dragon descending from the highest heaven.

There is nothing in the SGZ to show that Yan Liang was a particularly good fighter. What Guan Yu did - which did take skill and courage - is charge into the middle of Yan Liang's army, catch him by surprise, and kill him with a lance (NOT a dadao).

There is also no record of Guan Yu killing Wen Chou.

I think he's ranking the strongest fighters in the RTK. That's a very arbitrary list, however, and has no basis in history.

There was another general, Yan Yan (颜严), from the Shu (蜀), who had a better portrayal than Yan Liang. Yan Yan was a highly respected leader and formidable fighter who was persuaded to defect to serve Liu Bei.

My surname is He. Perhaps we are distantly related to Empress He & He Jin. But butcher boy screwed up. That is our tenuous link to the Han Dynasty. :P

Or maybe we are related to He Ping (Wang Ping of Shu who orginated in Wei).
