Last night we were at an American restaurant and one of the desserts was "tofu cake". I just had to try it, and it turned out basically looking and tasting like a really moist slice of chocolate cake. I knew there's 'tofu chicken' but this was the first time I'd seen Chinese food used in such a different way.

Anyone else have similiar experiences with Chinese foods or items used in new/different ways like this? Or know of supposed "Chinese foods" that are actually not Chinese in origin (like the fortune cookie?)

If you're talking about Dou Fu, I know at least 15 ways to prepare them. You're better off having Dou Fu and Mince Meat pot with rice. Trust me, that is actually good for you.

I had someone just yesterday ask me how to make dofu. I think Americans have a generally bad image of it because I guess they don't cook it in tasty ways?

I like dofu best in soups and stirfried. I've also had delicious 'dofu flowers' (dofu custard soup, I guess?), raw dofu with blackbean sauce, 'dofu skin' and dried tough dofu strips steeped in 5 Spice. Good grub!

Care to share some dofu recipes? I'd love some pointers
