was just playing RTK4 and captured him when the Nanman tribes attacked. In the game it mentioned he was a large and powerful man, so how is it in the story and did he historically exist? From the physical description they game..one would figure he would be one of the northern barbarian, not southern.

Well, he was the ruler of the Five Valley Region in Nanzhong, according to the Sanguo Yanyi. I've heard from others that he was probably from Wu Ling, based on the fact that that was the tribe involved in the battle of Yi Ling. The only place he is mentioned in the Sanguo Zhi is during Liu Bei's retreat, where Shamoke died. That's all that I know, but maybe some others know more...

He is mentioned in Lu Xun's biography in the Sanguo Zhi - he was a 'king of the barbarians' (胡王), and was killed in Liu Bei's defeat at Yiling. But it is not explained which barbarians he was the king of.

Read my post, Zhou Yu. There was a Shamoke in history, but he did not kill Gan Ning. Gan Ning died of illness later on.

i read that Meng Huo was able to use the Nanman because their king, Shamoke, was killed. I assumed it meant that Shamoke was the king of the tribe of Nanman that Meng was able to control. I will look for it again.
I like the smilies. :)
