So? He just does.

If its from the novel then the chance is no, it's probably made up.

My memory could be failing me, but isn't Guan Ping adopted?

Also, "Ping" and "Xing" sounds alike especially when written in ping ying. However, in their actual Chinese characters, I don't see the connection. I don't think there was supposed to be similarity between those, therefore "Suo" isn't really out of any naming patterns.

Actually, Guan Yu's tombstone was discovered in a well in his hometown during the Kangxi reign of the Qing dynasty. Its inscription shows that Guan Ping was actually Guan Yu's biological son, born in 178 to his wife Lady Hu 胡. The adopted son bit was made up by the novel, because the writer assumed that Guan Yu didn't have a wife until he settled down in Sichuan.

Guan Xing was Guan Yu's younger son. As for Guan Yu's "lost son" Guan Suo, there is no historical evidence for his existence, and he is probably a fictional character made up by folk legends.

There is no record of the names of Guan Yu's daughter or daughters, but we do know he had at least one daughter because Sun Quan asked for a marriage between his son and Guan Yu's daughter, but was rudely rebuffed by Guan Yu.

Guan Ping was Guan Yu's real son. Luo Guanzhong made up the fostering story. <_<

Unfortunately during the capture of Chengdu Guan Yu's family was wiped out by Pang Hui, whose father, Pang De, was captured and beheaded by Guan Yu in battle decades earlier.

Oh, since we're on that, why not Rosamund Kwan 关之琳, daughter of Guan Shan 关山? Problem is, she's Manchu.
