the new qing army uniform....
i guess u mean the beiyang army modernised by Li Hongzhang and commanded by Yuan Shihkai.
It's very German as a matter of fact.
Dark Blue jacket, gold shoulder parts, and collars
Knee high black boots, sabre and all, it's just German

The only difference is in the hat, which remained the traditional Qing dynasty winter style hat, (not the summer style cone shaped one).

Lol cool.

They look like a mix between Chinese, Mexicans, and Aussies.

which regiment is this from?
It's all very confusing. I've seen many pictures and they're all very different. Some battalions are just fully traditional, even the weaponary, some fully modernised, and some just all crazy and weird (like this one)...
i guess the qing didn't have much control over their armies, it's just a mess. no wonder they screwed up so badly in the sino-japanese war

the reason why the beiyang uniform is german, is because the beiyang consisted of German ships, such as the the Ting Yuan flag ship, which was built in the Vulcan shipyards of Germany in 1881.
It seems that Li Hongzhang had this fettish for german tech, for he refused to purchase french ships. :D

but generally considering the whole of the qing army, you could probably find all sorts of weird uniforms. but only the beiyang army had any influence in chinese history afterwards. The rest were just too poorly trained

yes, these uniforms came about with the new armies; while there was some uniformed soldiers prior to the sino-japanese war they were the exception rather than the rule. if you see japanese ukiyo-e (woodblock prints) you'll see that the qing army still extensively used flowing robes, not the best uniform in combat.

i don't know about the third one
looks communist too me. I don't think that had anything to do with the qing dynasty.
the hats of the other two look like the austro-hungarians...lol
the last one looks like during the 1920s, am i right?
the qing army didn't wear long robes in combat, so i son't know about the japanese woodcuts. however they did wear the tradional blue with the word army in the middle

long robes?do you mean silk robes?

i thought qing soldiers wore a red jacket which beared the word ''soldier''..............
then is it blue?

but then....the uniforms are not standardized and this is a problem...

since i did not see any green camp soldiers wear armor...

The Green coated Qing forces are look like the uniforms worn by the former chinese red army. minus the Red cap plus equipment, especially russian guns. but unlike the KMT forces with same uniforms, but complete with the helmet.

So do the green coated Qing forces wore peaked cap or traditional black velvet cap?
