It was a battle which Annette Lu claimed defined Taiwan and China as two separate entities - I dunno, it took the Hundred Years War to define England and France as two separate entities :P

According to the account in wikipedia, about half of some 9,000 PLA troops who landed in Quemoy were killed, and the rest taken prisoners.

Anyone knows what happened to the POWs?

They are given "Re-Education" in Nationalism and some joined the ROC army later on... according to ROC sources.

Some were also sent back after the re-eductation, though those who did usually suffered horrible fates in the hands of the CCP.... according to ROC sources.

Well, if we knew that they would "suffer horrible" fate, why would we send them back anyway?

Anti-Communist propaganda has never subsided in Taiwan. I am just lucky never to be part of it. Ideologism is stupid and senseless.

I guess it probably happened in other parts of the world too ...

Red Army POWs liberated from German war prisons by Allies didn't seem to be given a choice by their liberators of where they're to go ...
