I guess it is difficult to get concrete, detailed tactics for battles in accient time. But some novels like San Guo (Three Kingdoms) do have some detailed description.

My personal favourite, the Battle of Jingxing (井陘之戰), in 205 BC Han Xin with an army of 30,000 levies, defeated a numerically larger army of Zhao near Jingxing (Jing Gorge) in modern Hebei province.

An oldie but goodie- Sun Bin ambush of Pang Juan at Maling

Before the final battle, Sun Bin gave the impression of "frailty and retreat," inducing his rival Pang Juan to pursue and attack.

QUOTE
"Thus one who is skillful at keeping the enemy on the move maintains deceitful appearances, according to which the enemy will act." --- Sun Zi

Upon the arrival at a locale called Maling (Horse Trout Way), Pang Juan fell into an ambush laid by the army of Qi. The army of Wei was completely annihilated and Pang Juan committed suicide by cutting his throat.
