This forum is opened to form a focal point for all discussions related to minority ethnic groups in China. By "Chinese minority ethnic groups", we mean any non-Han ethnic groups who are presently living in China (either PRC or ROC). This includes but is not limited to the 55 official minority nationalities in the PRC.

Discussions about the majority Han ethnic group or regional sub-groups within the Han ethnic group should be conducted in the main Chinese Ethnicities and Peoples forum. The same applies for ethnic groups that appeared in Chinese history but no longer exist as distinct groups, such as the Xiongnu, Xianbei, Tujue/Turkut, Khitan, Tanguts, and Jurchen.

It is forseen that this forum will become a discussion portal on the study of ethnic minorities in China, which forms a core of China studies.
