The Yantai government webpage says there are 1282 Va佤族 in Yantai.

(If you can read Chinese, you can also see that there are Miao 苗族, Tujia土家族, Buyi布依族, Zhuang壮族, Lahu拉祜族, Bai白族, Yi彝族, Dai傣族, Hani哈尼族, Tibetans藏族, Lisu傈僳族, and She畲族 minorities all of which number at least 100)
Many of these minorities have their ancestral homeland in southern provinces like Guizhou and Yunnan. Just wonder how they ended up in Shandong, Yantai city way up north? I can understand groups of less than 50 looking for work but when it comes to a number like 1282, as in the Va, there must be some appealing aspect in Yantai.
Is there a large population of southern minorities in other Northern cities as well?
