I've heard sayings that Suzhou(a city in southern jiangsu province) women are the most beautiful women in China and that Guangzhou(a city in Guangdong province) has the best Chinese Cuisine..is this true?! lol

I m not sure whether they are the most beautiful or not. It is a subject issue, typical Suzhou girls are very gentle, obedient and sympathetic, small and cute. Like the saying adorable is in the eyes of beholder, if they are in your taste, surely the most beautiful they are. I love the dialect there, it is probably the most pleasant dialect spoken across the country. It has some similarity to Shanghaiese, but more soft.

This is just a typical stereotype view of the "Jiangnan Meinu 江南美女" (Southern Beauty). It depends on how you define chinese beauty as. Most northern chinese look more 'bulky' just like Mongolians.

Southern Beauty girls are generally more 'shapely' in terms of facial appearance, small lips, large eyes, fair skin, shapely body...probably that's why they called Suzhou girls as more pretty.

I've been to Suzhou before. IMO, they aren't as pretty as girls in Shanghai.

i think the Wu people(han chinese who live around the shanghai area which includes Southern Jiangsu and Zhejiang) are probably the most beautiful ppl..cuz you have the mixture of southern and northern physical characteristics. Double eye lids(south), paleness(north..but a fair amount of cantonese and fujianese are pale as well^^), less bulkness(from south), and the infusion of good looks from both sides =D

Well, what I've found out is that girls in big cities are generaly more beautiful, because it is in the big cities that population from various regions get mixed.

I myself am not the kind who likes small and cute girls, I like northern Chinese women who are tall and have nice curves.

I agree. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Some prefer the northern look while others the southern look, and some like the mixed.

no, u got a misconception. women born at Wu area( Shanghai, Suzhou around) are no near to large eyes, fair skin, shapely body etc. Basically they are dark skin, little eyes, short and thin. I m not against Shanghai or Suzhou girls. But that's the reality. The reason why u have a sense that they are beautiful than girls from other places is merely coz they live in the big cities and know exactly how to beautified themselves with those expensive cosmetics. Girls from other places neither can afford those cosmetics or are access to them. And Shanghai girls are known to have a sharp sense of fashion. That is a plus bonus to make them looks more beautiful.

The most beautiful women in China are from Chongqing. It is a wide recognized truth held around the country. I wont be any suprised if someone tell me he finds the girls on the streets of Chongqing are all slim, curved, shaply and with distinctively fair skins. If u have chance to go there, u would know i m not wrong on these kinda of issues.

I actually find dark skinned Asian women to be quite attractive.

anyone here watch Fox News? On the O'Reilly Factor, there is an UGLY a** Asian female with a pig snout "Michelle_Malkin" ...she's also poorly informed and virulent in her political views. I think O'Reilly keeps her on as a stool pidgeon to serve as a counterbalance so he seems more moderate.

Sadly with her she could be the most beautiful woman in the world, but the ugliness within here could never allow her to be anything but an ugly person. She is a bad example to use in any thing except what you don't want your children to grow up to be.

Since beauty is a very subjective thing, it is rather impossible to answer this question accurately. Of course, there will always be stereotypical views on this issue since no groups of people can really find a satisfying response to this question. Let’s put aside all personal feelings for right now and analyze this question just by using the pure facts. What I mean by “pure facts” is to based the answer on sheer statistics. I know not everyone will agree with Andy’s statement regarding Su Zhou women as the most beautiful ladies in China; however, can his statement be statistically proven? Since I cannot read or write in Chinese, I would have a lot of problems looking up these information and may not even find anything. Therefore, I would have to rely on you for the numbers. Heheheh!

From my experience, you just can't generalize Chinese women in terms of looks. Not only are the definitions of beauty different from each individual to the next, there have been so much migration due to economic opportunities and just plain people moving around that the whole country is pretty much mixed. It's like saying are girls in LA more beautiful than girls in DC. Well it depends on the girl.

Southern girls definitely have their charm, just look at the vast number of beauties in the Hong Kong entertainment industry. But then again, girls like Joan Chen and Zhang Zi Yi are from the north, and they are definitely attractive. Again, there's just no true geographic line on which region produces pretty girls.

I do have to say Cantonese women are the bossiest, lol. My aunts, cousin, and mother pretty much rule their husbands.

It seems that more mild and averaged features are favored among men and hence why the slender faced and petite southern girls are considered to be most beautiful. I personally find women with stronger features to be more beautiful i.e. Northern women. Strong cheekbones, tall stature, etc. I find those kind of looks more appealing. Mongolian girls are so freaking hot.

There is that saying. Although I think Suzhou girls are not necessarily the most beautiful, because most of the Suzhou girls I saw had pretty bad skin problems (like pimples). I think it is probably because they have pretty bad quality water in the local area. However, they had very nice curves, the best among the Southern girls (again, the ones I met). When they start speaking to you, they have this natural sexiness that just melt your bones. By the way, I am a straight woman, and I was melting when my Suzhou friends started talking to me. I thought that was why they are considered the most beautiful women in China. When they started talking to you, you forget that their skins may not be that smooth or they may not the best looking girls you have met. You just melt!

On the other hand, I think Hangzhou girls (in Zhejiang province) have the best facial features. It's just that they are all very hot tempered, so it really reduces their loveliness. My mother was from Hangzhou, and she was extremely beautiful (she was asked to be in the movies, but she refused it). However, her temper is wow, and the same are all my nieces at my mother's side of the family. I have to mention, unfortunately, I don't look like my mother. My brother is the pretty one of the family. In Marco Polo's writing, he said it's not only the women of Hangzhou are beautiful, same are the men. I visited my cousins there last year and saw my elder cousin who is close to 60 and my cousin-in-law who is over 60 (like 65 or so) - both of them were farmers, so they got a lot of sun and such. However, both of them barely had any wrinkles, and both of them are still very handsome. I was really amazed about it.

I have not seen too many really pretty Northern girls, except the ones from the North-East provinces. Maybe it's because I don't like big round faces for women. I also think the facial features of Catonese girls and Fujian (or Taiwanese) girls are more likely cute, but not gloriously beautiful. However, I do think Hunan and Szechuan girls are also very pretty.

These are just my opinions. I think everyone have their likes or dislikes. In my opinion, no matter how handsome or beautiful a person is, if his/her personality is bad, I would not feel the person is handsome or beautiful at all. The opposite is also true.

The reason why people (not just women) in cities are more attractive is because society puts a premium on looks; and because of cross-assortative mating as well as a higher number of mates to select from people in rich cities will end up having the more attractive children in a given region.
