This a Qing embroidery that has been in my family a while. Is it possible to identify the scene or who is involved?

My guess would be Lü Bu (吕布) meeting Diao Chan (貂蝉) at Fengyi Pavillion (凤仪亭).

Well that confirms what a Chinese friend told me. Here is her description:

"About the embroidery, the design on it shows a scene in opera, the scene is probably a well-known story in Three Kingdoms period, named "Feng Yi Ting". It's about a great general Lu Bu and a beauty Diao Chan. Diao Chan is one of the four most beautiful women in China's history. The usage of the embroidery is not very certain. Maybe hanging in front of the chest."

Thank you for your help,
Josh

Sorry I spent my whole childhood looking at it as it was kept in my Grandmother's glass topped coffee table. Of all her things it was the one I most wanted. I think we have figured out the scene, but can anybody guess what the cloth was for? My friend says hanging in the front, my Grandmother told me it was hanging in the back. What kind of person would have worn it? I think it was a Manchu official of some sort.
