I've been reading some interesting accounts of this battle, in which overwhelming Chinese units destroyed a full battalion of the British Gloucestershire regiment, which had been ordered to hold the line to give other U.N. forces time to regroup.

All the sources I can find are from the United Nation's perspective. An example is here:

I am interested if any of you know where there are some (translated) accounts of this battle from the Chinese perspective. Thanks.

This is Korean war isn't it?

Yes, it was a battle in the Korean War, just a couple of months after China entered the conflict on the side of North Korea. The U.N. forces were still reeling from the shock of the surprise Chinese attack.

Could one of you mods please move this to the "Chinese Art of War" forum? I'm thinking it might get more response over there. My apologies for not putting it there in the first place. Thanks.
