This sword was first shown in our Chinese Sword Society forum and was appraised by Philip Tom: "Sword of Phosphorescence and Thunder"

The guard is unusual in that the quillions are shorter than one would expect and do not terminate in whorls. The modelling does seem to extend over the ends of the quillions but without a photograph showing a direct view of the ends, it is impossible to say whether or not they have been shortened.

The belt does not necessarily belong with the sword. They do not have any stylistic motifs in common.

The jian is nice, and I had a look out of curiosity when it went on sale. Youch! The price was ten times what it should have been, and it was snapped up right away. The damaged scabbard and replaced handle should have kept the price sane, but evidently not.

Congratulations to Doug on some astute marketing.
