Hi there,

I wonder if anyone here could tell me anything about this picture of a group of Chinese cavalry please? Would anyone know where the picture is originally from (a film or poster possibly?), where it was taken or who the cavalry unit are?

Thanks in advance for any help

I can't even see whether the soldiers were from ancient time or from more modern time!!!

Is that a photo? I can't really tell. Perhaps it is from Qing dynasty.

The picture isn't clear enough to see if they even represent Chinese cavalry let alone what Dynasty. The flags look as if someone superimposed them into the photo.

It's an old B&W that's been color enhanced. I've done it myself in Photoshop (I have an ancestor who was a Rough Rider and we have photos of them that I've played with). The flags have been color overlaid which is why they lack shadows or shading. Beyond that, I agree...we'd need to be a lot closer to make out any details.

The picture is not clear and too small. It's quite difficult to identify the historical period of the army.

Here's a larger version of the image...

bayonet
now i see, it could be red amay led by CPC in 1920s or red guards or PLA in 1960s and 70s judging by their uniforms. Actually the big red flags have already excluded the possibility to be anytime pre ROC as Chinese didn't use that pattern of flags till modern time.
Shaolin
The uniform looks like Militia forces instead of an Army....Most likely to be PLA.....

White Armbands....Could be Kempeitai of Manchukuo....

It does not looke military band or group of Chinese cavalry.

1. Probably it is picture of some nomads gathering for local event or meeting of communist party, carrying red flag.
2. judging by clothes, hat, band on arm, wrapped chest , it may be picture organised gathering

Do I see , front 2-3 men have mongolian gown
- leg looks like wrapped by long lown
- front side of 1 or 2 men's clothes look like fron side of mongolian traditinal clothing

- picture may be of 1950-1960-ies, before cultural revolution?
--------

Is the any picture of 1st military parade of communists, after declaring PRC in 1949, specially pictures of Chinese cavalry that took part of the parade.
