I'm not so sure if anyone made a topic about this, but I was curious about members having weapons @ home. Well I'm a martial artist so I collect different weapons & have a bunch displayed in my home. Have I tested them out? Sure! lol Oh I don't own any handguns, shotguns, or rifles but I use to be a Captain and shoot for the ROTC rifle team back in the day. On my free time, I try to go to the shooting range.

I have a Tanto blade, black & white Wakizashi sword along w/a katana that has a gold dragons on that set, a custom Masakiyo katana that has cherry blossoms & dragon on the black sheath/scabbard (which I keep in a box under my bed), and a Chinese broadsword. I lost my ninja stars & kunai knives, I still have my bow & arrows, but I plan to buy more stuff from the weapons shop in China-Town. [^o^]

My wife plays Tai Chi Chuan so there are several swords and staffs (staves? lol) around the house. One of the swords is an Angel Sword and is lethal. I like to avoid that one. Its name is Clouds roll back, Stars come out. There's a pierced pattern of the Little Dipper near the hilt. Another is an antique Chinese show piece. Not good for anything put counting dragons and identifying inset stones. ^__~ She also has a broadsword, but one of those flimsy things for practicing (with the scarves off the pommel). The rest are more Ren Faire pieces.
Wan Ren aka Danny
I would classify myself a kung fu addict wink.gif I have several kung fu weapons all of which I am familiar with but my expertise is with the double tiger hook, horse cutting knife southern style, kwan dao, staff, tan dao, sang (double dao), ta dao with nine rings, trident and the sai.

My entire weapons collection include: tai chi straight sword, carbon steel battle sword, battle ta dao, sai, tonfa, thirteen knuckle bat, nine scetional whip, single saber ( tan dao), sang dao, sang jin ( double sword ), double tiger hook, 7 foot pole, 5 foot pole, spear, lance, horse cutting knife, kwan dao, mountain trident, butterfly sword, & hook spear.

A little plug of myself, my kung fu background is Wuzuquan or ngo cho kun in Hokkian dialect or Five Ancestors Fist.

Our Grandmaster weapon of expertise was the sai and nine sectional whip he actually use those two weapons one in each hand and engage in a schimish with Manchu soldiers back in the early 1900s before the end of the Qing dynasty at his home town in Quanzhou.

^ Thats quite exceptional!! Alas, although I love Kung-Fu dearly I have never found a teacher to learn from. Soon I'm about to begin training again much to my delight, in Kali and Escrima. It appears theres some skilled Muay Thai fighters in the class as well.

My primary areas of study thus far have been Shinto-Ryu, Jigen-Ryu, and Isshin-Ryu Kenjutsu, Iaido, and Iaijutsu. And for open hand Hapkido, and Hwarang-do. So while I would love expansion with weapons skill I am best with length blades. I do practice with a variation of swords though. Here's some pictures =)

'Falling Blossom(s)' (I like to name my swords due to the techniques I develop with them)

Sorry I dont have a better pic, my digi is broken right now unfortunately. Yes I have 2 of them. This picture is a little misleading though. Each sword's dimensions are 4.5 feet total length. (hilt= 1.2 feet) the girth at the thickest point on the spine is just under 1/2 of an inch. Total weight (individually = 15.2 pounds [lbs])
These swords were created as an inspired real life replica of Ichigo Kurosaki's 'Zangetsu', from the hit anime Bleach.

'Soul Guardian'
The ceremonial piece of my collection. What pacifist's blade arsenal would be complete without a professional forge Sakabatou (Reverse Blade Sword). There are many unique tricks to using this sword correctly, the whole point being not to not hurt others any more than necessary to end an unavoidable conflict. It's true objective is to slay only the opponent's will to fight, and encourage his positive spirit (if hopefully there should be one). It is a blade of mercy yet I have loved working with effective techniques for it. Its size is between a standard and 'O' Katana.

'Deadly Thunder'
Dragon Phoenix Iaijutsu Katana & Bokken
There uses and applications are self explanatory. I do have a style I developed though with the blade drawn and the bokken. The Katana is slightly shorter than a typical Katana but longer than a Kodachi. Than handle has been internally reinforced and customized to pivot the weight a little towards the handle. This creates an extra and perfectly fluid stream of weight transfer that would greatly aid a well executed drawslash.
'Silent Twilight'

happy.gif A full tang heavy 1050 forge assassins knife. It is the length of a large tanto = (11-13 inches) and maintains a razor edge wonderfully. The darkened blade and powdered treatment create a low visibility stealth blade capable pf operating under a number of conditions amicably.

wallbash.gif Sorry I dont check how to add a photo excatly, so you have to click on the links to see the pictures. Perhaps somebody can explain me wink.gif

As I say in my introduction I have some "mixed" weapons. All of them be used for show fighting so they are not edged, they have a 3mm impact edge.

This is a european type of a one and a half sword, 2,5 Kilos, lenght complete 115cm, Effective lenght of the blade 87cm and maximum width 4cm
The sword is top-heavy with a small handguard and bothside cutting edge. The grip is wraped with leather and iron-yarn for a good grip.

This is a european type of a one hand sword, 1,9 Kilos, lenght complete 94cm, Effective lenght of the blade 70cm and maximum width 5cm
The sword is top-heavy with a small handguard. The grip is wraped with leather.

This is a european short counter Dagger to use it as second weapon
The complete lenght is 60cm, efective blade length is 24cm, weight round about 0,8 Kilos.

Nice European blades, I like the arming sword in particular.

Are those Chinese weapons Taichi weapons? Aw, come on, you can do better. wink.gif
(Just teasing, but those really actually aren't that representative of real swords ohmy.gif)

You can have a look at some nice swords at www.zheng-wu.com

Nice mounting though, I like how they're next to the scrolls.

Thank you Zongbao,

the scrolls on the left is titeld love, luck, freedom and health. On the right is to know how to appreciate the good fortune and between is a stone with the symbol for intelligence.
For me it has a meaning. The left side is only possible with the right side and in the middle is the possible way to reach this. I know that is a little pathetic smile.gif

I once have a very nice japan style katana made by a local. I also own bokken since I once join an Aikido dojo. I also once have a very old spear probably come from my grandfather time. But all of those all remain in my home since I can not (and also don't want) to bring them abroad. Btw, can we bring the weapon in baggage when we travel by airplane ?

Not much as of yet. Currently, I just have a Tai Chi, the one I learned my sword forms on when I was studying Jow Ga Kung Fu in Virginia.

Looking at getting a Gun Dao and a Jian next, to complete my costume when I get my armour completed.
Other than that, my only other melee weapon is my SCA approved beat'em stick...

I think it is different from country to country.
Here in Germany it is allowed to bring it by plane if you put it in a lockable case and check in as normal lagguage.
