Does anyone know whether the Northern Song infantry used tents while they were in the field? If so, could you tell me what these tents were like? How many men would have slept in each tent? Were these tents round like those of the Jurchen?

Lol.. the chinese army had been using tents for their military camps ever since Pre-Qin era such as Spring Autumn/Warring States period. Naturally, the Song army used tents when they were camping during the military expeditions.

Below are some sketches of chinese tents in military camps

It depends on how the chinese army were organised. The smallest military group unit could be 5 or 10 soldiers. So around 5 to 10 soldiers would sleep in each tent.

The tents look almost alike whether it's Jurchen or Song.
