Pics I got over from a thread at a different asian forum. The pics below are from Western Mongolians above the Xinjiang border, and the first girl is a Oirat Mongols from Xinjiang. Just intrigued and curious, their admixture is obviously not from Russians and seems much more ancient. DNA from Xinjiang Mongolians(Oirat Mongols) reveals that they are 14% caucasoid. Im curious on what ethnic group or groups they mixed with and was in their confederation. When did this mixing occur?

i recall reading that around that area, there used to be Indo-European peoples who eventually got displaced or absorbed by Turko-Mongol tribes. Maybe some of their lineage came from there?

Yeah I read something similar to that today while browsing around wikipedia. Is it possible that as the empire expanded west that they allied with other, more European steppe societies and inter-bred? Possible breeding with Siberian Slavic peoples? The pictures of the blonde ones are fairly surprising.
