has anyone read "china, a new history" by jhon king fairbank? if so did you like it? i would like to know as its one of the only chinese history books at my local library.

It is ok, gives you an idea and outline.
I would suggest cross referencing though.

yea, since its a broad shot at the entire chinese history you cant expect much, which is why i recommend cross referencing.
my high school history book was more detailed then this.
