I've seen clips where martial artists supposedly throw needles through a plate of glass and pop a balloon on the other side. Is there a de facto technique used in CMA for throwing weapons? The reason I ask is because I am rather good at throwing anything with an edge or sharp point. I've pretty much taught myself, but I'm sure a little instruction under a more knowledgeable person would help me take this skill to the next level.

I imagine the needle through the glass bit (if it's real) is 70% 'fa jing' (explosive force) and 30% throwing ability. I can throw nails with enough force to stick into thick cardboard, but glass is another story. Not to mention a needle is many times lighter than a nail. I would love to train in some fa jing exercises. One draw back is that both of my shoulders are messed up and will require surgery at some point. This drastically takes away from my ability to transmit power down through my shoulder to my elbow and wrist.

If I may ask, your shoulder problem was it from training throwing?

The reason I ask is because I had an old shoulder injury about 25+ years ago that I thought has healed but since I started practicing throwing it started to hurt it hurt so bad that my shoulder tendons got swollen.

Actually it is from a mix of a boat accident and my current employment. Now I only throw with power generated by my elbow and wrist alone. I'd have a lot more penetrating power with the aid of my shoulders.
