I am doing my graduation project on world history. I picked Zheng He as my topic. For the visual component of the project, I am planning make a 3D model of Zheng He's treasure ship (or other smaller ship if it became too hard) and a write a program that enable a walk through in the different rooms and levels of the ship.

I am just wondering if anyone have a Treasure Ship (or another other Zheng He's fleet) blue print. I would really appreciate it, since I need something to reference to. I got a really simple one off a book, which don't really help...

If anyone want to help me model or texture part of it, I would really appreciate too. happy.gif

No blueprints of the ships have survived, but you can find photos of modern scale models at http://www.chinahistoryforum.com/index.php?showtopic=2935

Time magazine had it in one of its issues.

Zheng He's flag ship compared to Columbus' flag ship

it was in pictures instead of models.

here is a model comparison of the two.

A question to structural engineers - are ships that size realistic? And can they be constructed using techniques of that time?
