The spectacular opening ceremony of Beijing Olympic 2008 was directed by Zhang Yimou, the famous chinese director for movies such as Hero, House of the Flying Daggers, Curse of the Golden Flowers.

Zhang Yimou is clearly a master in the use of lighting and color effect for the show.

It must have been an absolutely incredible show. I had waited sooo long looking forward to watching it only to have last minute company arrive and I was unable to see any but the lighting of the torch on a re play later that evening. I was able to see the closing ceremonies and from this pictures I am really upset I missed the opening all the more now. To have missed that life time event really makes me sad.

I particularly like this one because each persons gown looks like a flower pedal that has been scattered over the ground. How many more images like that I must have missed.... ah well...
