Full Version: Got a question about ethnicities?
China History Forum, Chinese History Forum > Chinese History Topics > Chinese Ethnic Groups and Peoples
tianzhuwoye
Welcome to the general guide to the CHF’s Ethnicities and Peoples forum and its important threads. Things can get pretty wild around here so General Zhaoyun wanted to make sure we got things organized. This is an attempt. If you’ve got a question or ideas, please take a look around and see if a similar topic has been addressed already and check out our threads for discussions you’d be able to contribute to. The threads are categorized here by vague geographic area, which might not always be the best move given the mobile nature of many of these histories, so this should just be understood to be a convenience. Thanks for stopping by!

Qing policies and later legends created by its detractors tend to make things complicated when we talk about ethnicity today, so it might be a good idea to check out the Qing Forum now and then for more ideas.

Many other discussions focusing on today’s Korea and Japan areas can be found in the CHF’s fantastic Asian History Section.

Are northern and southern Chinese people really as different as we think? Is this just regionalism talking, or is it because of divergent cultural histories? Are there genetic differences between the Northern and Southern Han?

Try to imagine how beastly it would have been to carry that all the way down. Any suggestions? tongue.gif
